Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 commission on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more, so on most items you keep 80% of the sale price, as of 2026. But how much Poshmark takes in total also depends on shipping discounts you offer, packages over 5 lb, how you cash out and, in Texas, an extra state fee.

This guide puts every Poshmark charge in one place for US sellers, with notes for Canada. Fees change, so confirm on Poshmark's fee page before you price a batch.

How much does Poshmark take per sale?

Poshmark's commission has two tiers: a flat $2.95 below $15 and 20% at $15 and up. It's calculated on the final sale price, after any offer you accept; the buyer pays the shipping label on top.

Here's what you keep at common prices, as of 2026:

Sale pricePoshmark feeYou keepFee as a share of the sale
$5$2.95$2.0559%
$10$2.95$7.0529.5%
$14$2.95$11.0521%
$15$3.00$12.0020%
$25$5.00$20.0020%
$50$10.00$40.0020%
$100$20.00$80.0020%
$300$60.00$240.0020%

"You keep" is before what you paid for the item, supplies and your time. Poshmark's fee page shows no listing fee and no separate payment processing charge for sellers; the commission is the main cost.

Why does the $15 line matter so much?

Below $15, the flat $2.95 is a big slice of a small sale: more than half of a $5 sale. From $15 up, the share settles at 20%, so the flat fee hurts most on cheap items.

Example (hypothetical): you sold a $14 top and keep $11.05. Had it sold for $15, you'd keep $12.00, so one extra dollar of price adds 95 cents to your payout. The bigger lesson is that a $6 item leaves you $3.05, which rarely covers the time to photograph, list, share and pack it.

Ways sellers handle cheap items:

  • Bundle them. Sell three $8 pieces together for $20 and pay $4 instead of three flat fees totaling $8.85.
  • Skip sourcing them. If an item is likely to sell under $15, it's often better left on the thrift rack.
  • Use another app for low-priced pieces, where a percentage fee takes less.

Fees are only one part of whether a flip is worth it. Our reselling for profit guide shows how fees, buy price and time fit together before you commit money to inventory.

Does the seller pay for shipping on Poshmark?

Usually not: the buyer pays a flat $6.49 label, as of 2026, for orders shipped by USPS Ground Advantage. Sellers pay shipping costs in three situations.

  1. Overweight packages. One label covers up to 5 lb, including bundles. Poshmark says any overweight cost is the seller's responsibility. Coats, boots and big bundles are the usual culprits.
  2. Shipping discounts you offer. When you use Offer to Likers, the offer must include a shipping discount, and Poshmark deducts it from your earnings. The app shows the discount options when you send the offer.
  3. Hazmat fees. Since July 12, 2026, USPS has charged a $50 non-compliance fee on packages flagged for improper hazmat marking, often old hazmat stickers left on a reused box. Poshmark covered the full fee through July 31, 2026; from August 1, 2026, it deducts $5 from your redeemable balance and pays the rest.

Strip old labels from reused boxes

Fully remove or cover every old shipping label, barcode and hazmat sticker before you ship. It avoids the hazmat deduction and misrouted packages.

What does it cost to get your money out?

Poshmark releases your earnings within 3 days of delivery unless the buyer opens a case. Moving them to your bank can be free or cost a small fee, depending on the method.

Payout methodFee (as of 2026)Typical speed

Poshmark lets you request up to 10 redemptions every 24 hours. If you don't need the cash immediately, direct deposit is the cheapest route.

Are there other Poshmark fees or taxes?

A few charges depend on where you live or what you sell.

Texas Seller Fee Tax

Poshmark says that from October 1, 2025, sellers located in Texas see an additional Texas Seller Fee Tax deducted from their earnings. Check your sale summary in the app for the exact amount.

Poshmark Canada

Poshmark Canada has its own fee schedule: a flat C$3.95 on sales under C$20 and 20% on sales of C$20 or more, as of 2026. Sellers also pay GST/HST on the Poshmark fee, at a rate that depends on their province.

Income tax

Poshmark's fee isn't the only deduction from your real profit. The IRS says you must report income whether or not you receive a Form 1099-K. Platforms must file one when your gross payments exceed $20,000 across more than 200 transactions, and they may send one below that.

If you buy items to resell, the commission, shipping costs you pay and supplies are generally deductible business expenses, so keep a record of each sale. Selling your own used clothes for less than you paid usually produces no taxable gain.

How does Poshmark's cut compare with other apps?

Poshmark's 20% is on the high side for clothing apps, though the buyer-paid flat label offsets some of it. Here's the short comparison for US sellers, as of 2026:

AppSeller feeShipping
Poshmark$2.95 under $15; 20% at $15 and upBuyer pays a flat $6.49 up to 5 lb
Mercari10% of item price plus buyer-paid shippingBuyer or seller pays, your choice
DepopNo selling fee; payment processing 3.3% + $0.45 on item, shipping and taxYou set shipping when listing

For Mercari's full fee picture, including labels and cash-out costs, see how much Mercari takes. Fees aren't the whole story: the app where your brand actually sells usually wins. How can you keep more of each Poshmark sale?

You can't negotiate the commission, but you can control which items you list and how you ship and cash out.

  • Price from sold comps, then add room for offers. Our guide on how to price items for resale shows how to work out a maximum buy price after fees.
  • Weigh before you accept. Check that coats, shoes and bundles stay at or under 5 lb.
  • Use offers deliberately. An Offer to Likers costs both the 10% minimum price drop and the shipping discount, so build that into your list price.
  • Cash out by direct deposit unless the $2 Instant Transfer fee is worth the speed to you.
  • Track every sale with its fee, item cost and supplies so you know your real profit.

Example (hypothetical): you buy jeans for $8 and sell them for $40 after an Offer to Likers. Poshmark takes $8, say the shipping discount you chose costs you $3.50 (the app shows the real options), and a mailer costs $0.50. You keep $28 from the sale, not the $32 the headline 80% suggests, and $20 after the $8 you paid for the jeans, before counting your time.

Next steps

Before listing your next batch, check that each item is likely to sell at $15 or more, weigh anything heavy, and plan your offer and shipping discount into the price.
