By Updated 7 min read

Quick summary (TL;DR)

  • The Ulta Beauty affiliate program has two doors: an Impact program for blogs, media, coupon and loyalty publishers, and UB Creates for social media creators.
  • Ulta's public Impact terms list a default payout of 2% of the item sale amount, a 30-day attribution window and last-click credit, as of October 2026.
  • Commission is paid on the basket after Ulta Beauty Rewards points and coupons, and gift cards, gifts with purchase, samplers and mystery bags earn nothing.
  • Payment is slow: actions lock about six weeks after the month ends, then approved commissions are paid 45 days after the month they lock.
  • Ulta says joining is free, and it bans bidding on its brand name in search ads, including with words like coupons or promo codes.

The Ulta Beauty affiliate program pays you a commission when people buy on Ulta.com through your tracked link, and it has two doors: an Impact program for bloggers, media, coupon and loyalty publishers, and UB Creates for social media creators. As of October 2026, the Ulta Beauty affiliate program's public terms on Impact list a default payout of 2% of the item sale amount with a 30-day attribution window.

Ulta says joining is free. This guide explains which door to use, what the terms say about pay, exclusions and timing, how to apply and which rules get partners removed.

How does the Ulta Beauty affiliate program work?

You apply to one of Ulta's programs, get tracked links, and earn on eligible online orders your audience places. Ulta's Affiliates and Creators page lists three options.

ProgramWho it's forWhere you applyWhat's public about pay
Impact programBloggers, media and editorial publishers, BNPL, coupon, loyalty and similar sitesImpact, from Ulta's affiliate pageDefault 2% of item sale amount in the public terms
UB CreatesSocial media creatorsCreator application linked from Ulta's affiliate pageShown to approved creators

Ulta's FAQ says you don't need a website: UB Creates is open to creators across major social media platforms, while traditional publishers should use Impact. When we checked in October 2026, Ulta said it was accepting applications for UB Creates.

How much does the Ulta affiliate program pay?

The public Impact terms list a default payout of 2% of the item sale amount for web and app sales, as of October 2026. UB Creates rates aren't published on Ulta's page, so check them in the creator terms if you're approved.

Several details shrink what you actually receive:

  • Discounts come off first. Commission is earned on the basket total less Ulta Beauty Rewards points and coupon discounts.
  • Gift cards earn nothing. Purchases of any gift card, including e-gift cards, are excluded.
  • Freebies earn nothing. Items classed as "gifts with purchase," samplers and mystery bags are not commissionable.
  • Some codes and brands are excluded. The payout table lists certain promo codes and a Dior SKU exclusion with no payout.
  • Reversals are possible. The terms say Ulta decides reversals and can reverse up to 100% of an action.

Blog posts often quote higher Ulta rates. Some products or campaigns may pay more, but only the terms in your dashboard after approval count.

Example (hypothetical): a reader buys a $48 serum and a $30 shampoo through your link and uses a $10 coupon. At 2% of $68, you'd earn $1.36, and less or nothing if part of the order is returned. Ten orders like that in a month would be under $14.

That's modest, which is why beauty affiliates usually rely on volume, repeat buyers and several programs at once.

The Impact terms allow attribution from clicks within 30 days, credited to the last click. Payment is slow, so plan for a delay of several months.

TermWhat Ulta's Impact terms say
Attribution windowClicks within 30 days
Credit policyLast click
LockingActions lock 1 month and 15 days after the end of the month they are tracked
Payout schedulingApproved transactions are paid 45 days after the end of the month they lock
Late inquiriesMissing-commission inquiries more than 90 days after the transaction are rejected
Term changesThe template terms can change with 0 days' notice

Example (hypothetical), reading those terms: a sale tracked on October 10 belongs to October. It locks on December 15, and because December is the month it locks, it's paid around 45 days after December 31, in mid-February. That's roughly four months from sale to payment.

The terms also mention a stand-down policy, which can affect whether you get credit when another partner, such as a coupon or cashback site, touches the same sale.

How do you join the Ulta Beauty affiliate program?

Pick the door that matches where you publish, have real content live, then apply from Ulta's affiliate page.

  1. Pick your door. Choose the Impact program if you run a blog, media, coupon or loyalty site, or UB Creates if you publish mainly on social media.
  2. Publish beauty content first. Have useful, original beauty content live so the reviewer can see your audience and style.
  3. Apply from Ulta's affiliate page. Use the Apply buttons on Ulta's Affiliates and Creators page and complete the Impact or UB Creates application.
  4. Read the live terms. Check the payout, exclusions, attribution window and search-ad rules in your dashboard before you publish links.
  5. Disclose and track. Add a clear disclosure next to every link and review which posts earn after the first payout cycle.

Ulta's FAQ says there's no cost to join or apply. Anyone who charges you for promised approval or a private Ulta link is selling something Ulta gives away.

What rules must Ulta affiliates follow?

The public Impact terms spell out several restrictions, and breaking them can end the partnership.

RuleWhat the terms sayWhat to do instead
No brand biddingNo bidding on Ulta or Ulta Beauty, misspellings or variations in any search engine, including with words like coupons or promo codesAdd Ulta's brand terms as negative keywords if you run ads
No "official site" claimsDisplay URLs can't say "official site" or ULTA.comMake clear your page is your own review or guide
Approval for press and emailPartners must get Ulta's direct approval before including Ulta in PR, news, TV segments or email placementsAsk the affiliate team first, through the contact in your dashboard
No partner tracking pixelUlta doesn't allow partners to fire their own pixel at conversionUse the reporting inside Impact

Ulta recommends generic search terms such as makeup, skin care, hair care and fragrance, plus some brand names, for partners who run paid search.

On top of Ulta's rules, the FTC expects a clear disclosure close to each link. It says "paid link" right next to an affiliate link should be adequate, and warns that the phrase "affiliate link" alone may not be understood. For wording on each platform, see our guide on how to promote affiliate links without getting banned.

What beauty content earns Ulta commissions?

Content that helps someone choose a specific product they're ready to buy. Beauty shoppers compare shades, ingredients and prices, so practical, honest content tends to earn trust.

  • Shade and formula comparisons, such as "best drugstore vs prestige foundations for oily skin."
  • Routines by need, like a three-step routine for sensitive skin, with each product linked.
  • Dupes done honestly. Compare ingredients and finish, and say plainly where the cheaper product falls short.
  • Restock and value round-ups around Ulta sales events, refreshed so links stay accurate.
  • Hair tools tested and explained, a category where buyers research before spending more.

If you publish video, our guide to YouTube affiliate marketing covers where links go and how to disclose in videos.

Is the Ulta Beauty affiliate program worth it?

It can be, for beauty creators whose audience already shops at Ulta. The low default rate and slow payout mean it rarely makes much on its own, especially at first.

It tends to suit:

  • US beauty audiences who know Ulta and use Ulta Beauty Rewards.
  • Social creators who qualify for UB Creates and post consistently.
  • Comparison and routine content where several products are linked per post.

Many beauty affiliates join Ulta alongside Amazon Associates and link whichever store their reader prefers. Results depend on your effort, niche and execution, and most beginners earn little in their first months.
