  • Vinted announced its US launch in January 2026 and launched in Australia in July 2026, and each country has its own accounts and rules.
  • As of 2026, Vinted's US help center says the Buyer Protection fee is usually 5% plus $0.70, and the UK version usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80.
  • You're paid within 2 days of the order completing, and US withdrawals to a bank account can take up to 5 business days.

Vinted reselling means listing second-hand clothes and accessories on Vinted, where sellers pay no selling fee and buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee on top of your price. It's a good way to make money from your own closet, but Vinted's rules don't allow a standard account to buy items in order to resell them at a profit.

That rule shapes everything else. This guide covers what Vinted allows in the US and the UK, the fees and payouts, how to list well, and where to go instead if you want to flip sourced stock.

Can you make money reselling on Vinted?

Yes, by selling things you already own. Vinted is built for people decluttering: there's no commission, shipping labels are bought by the buyer, and the platform handles payment. For a closet full of clothes you don't wear, that's an efficient way to turn them into cash.

What Vinted isn't, on a standard account, is a place to run a flipping business. If you want to buy at thrift stores and resell for a margin, you need a platform that permits it, or a Vinted Pro account where it's offered. Our beginner's guide to reselling for profit explains how flipping works across platforms before you commit time to sourcing.

Is buying to resell allowed on Vinted?

Not on a standard account. Vinted's commercial selling rules say standard accounts can't be used to sell items professionally, and spell out that this includes buying or sourcing items and reselling them at a profit.

In the US

Vinted's US help center says its Pro program is not currently available in the US, so Vinted doesn't allow members there to sell as a business, on behalf of a business, or with the goal of making a profit. In practice, US Vinted is for your own second-hand items. Vinted says it may restrict accounts that break the rules and can permanently ban an account if the problem continues after a warning.

In the UK

The UK rules are the same for standard accounts, but there is a route for businesses: if you have business status, act for one, or sell to make a profit, Vinted says you need to sign up as a Pro seller. Pro sellers can't sell new stock bought specifically to resell either; that rule applies to everyone. Pro sellers also wait longer to be paid: buyers have 14 calendar days after delivery to report issues or return items, and Pro sellers must accept returns.

Don't list sourced stock as personal items

Vinted bans listing new items as second-hand, using photos you didn't take, and listing items you don't own yet. Disguising a flipping business as a personal closet risks a ban.

Where does Vinted operate in 2026?

Vinted runs separate country sites across Europe, including the UK, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. It announced its US launch in January 2026 and launched in Australia in July 2026. The US site lists prices in dollars and ships through USPS, FedEx and SpeedX, with international shipping between the US and the UK.

Accounts are tied to a country. Vinted says you can't change your account's country because of different currencies and payment providers, so if you move, you'd open a new account. Fees, rules and features can differ by country, so always read the help center for your own market.

How much does Vinted charge sellers?

Vinted says there are no fees for selling and you can list as many items as you like. The costs sit mostly on the buyer's side:

  • Buyer Protection fee. Mandatory on every order placed with "Buy now". Vinted's US help center says it's usually 5% of the price plus $0.70; the UK version says usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80, depending on the item, order value and whether it's a bundle.
  • Shipping. The buyer pays for the prepaid label at checkout. You must use the label Vinted generates, or the order is cancelled.
  • Optional visibility. Bumps and similar promotions are paid features for sellers. Use them only once a listing has proven it gets views.
  • Sales tax (US). Vinted collects and remits sales tax under marketplace facilitator laws in the states where it's required; the tax is added for the buyer and doesn't reduce your earnings.

Example (hypothetical): you list a jacket for $30 on Vinted US. With a Buyer Protection fee of 5% plus $0.70, the buyer pays $32.20 plus shipping and any sales tax. You receive the full $30, minus anything you spent on a Bump.

How do you get paid on Vinted?

You get paid after the buyer receives the item and the order completes. An order completes when the buyer presses "Everything is OK", or 2 days after delivery if they don't confirm or report an issue. Vinted says the payment then moves to your available balance within 2 days.

From there, you can spend the balance on Vinted or withdraw it. In the US:

  • Withdrawals go to a US bank account in dollars and can take up to 5 business days.
  • The minimum withdrawal is $0.10.
  • You can't use the same bank account for more than one Vinted account.
  • Vinted's payment provider may ask you to verify your identity before withdrawals continue.

Activate your Vinted Wallet before your first sale so the money has somewhere to go.

How do you sell well on Vinted?

Good Vinted listings look like a real person's closet, because that's what they are. The habits that matter:

  1. Take your own photos in daylight, showing the whole item, labels and any flaws. Vinted doesn't allow photos you didn't take.
  2. Write searchable titles: brand, item type, size and color.
  3. Price from sold items, not wishful asking prices. Our guide on how to price items for resale shows how to read sold comps.
  4. Offer bundle discounts so buyers add more of your items, and send offers to people who favorite a listing.
  5. Ship within 5 business days, using the buyer's chosen option, or the order is cancelled automatically.
  6. Photograph the packed parcel before sending. Vinted suggests this to help resolve transit disputes.

What happens if a buyer reports a problem?

Buyers can request a refund through Buyer Protection if an item doesn't arrive, arrives damaged or is significantly not as described. They have to report it within 2 days of the item being marked as delivered; after that, or once they press "Everything is OK", the payment is released to you. Accurate descriptions and clear photos of flaws are your best protection.

If a package is lost or damaged in transit, Vinted US says sellers may be compensated when they used the Vinted-generated prepaid label, packed the item properly and the carrier confirms the loss. The limits are set by the carrier: up to $100 per package with USPS or FedEx and up to $15 with SpeedX for domestic shipments. Keep your proof of shipping until the order completes.

Vinted or another app for reselling?

Use Vinted for your own wardrobe and a different app for flipping sourced items. In the US, Poshmark, Depop, Mercari and eBay all allow reselling items you buy, each with its own fees and audience.

Next steps

Clear out what you already own on Vinted, keep notes on what sells and for how much, and use that knowledge if you later start flipping on a platform that allows it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you resell on Vinted?

You can sell second-hand items you own on a standard account. Vinted's rules don't allow standard accounts to buy or source items and resell them at a profit; in markets with Vinted Pro, such as the UK, that requires a Pro account, and new stock bought to resell isn't allowed for anyone.

Is Vinted available in the US?

Yes. Vinted announced its US launch in January 2026, and its US site lists prices in dollars with USPS, FedEx and SpeedX shipping. Vinted says its Pro program for business sellers isn't currently available in the US.

Does Vinted take a cut of what you sell?

No. Vinted says there are no fees for selling. The buyer pays a mandatory Buyer Protection fee and the shipping, and sellers only pay for optional features such as Bumps.

How long does Vinted take to pay you?

Once the buyer confirms everything is OK, or 2 days after delivery with no issue reported, the order completes and Vinted says you receive the payment within 2 days. Withdrawals to a US bank account can take up to 5 business days.

Is Vinted better than Poshmark for sellers?

On fees, usually yes, because Vinted charges sellers no commission while Poshmark takes a commission on each sale. Poshmark, however, lets you resell sourced items, which Vinted's standard accounts don't allow.
