TikTok Creator Rewards Program: Requirements and How Payouts Work

The TikTok Creator Rewards Program pays for qualified views on videos over 1 minute. 2026 requirements, RPM, payouts, and how it differs from Shop.

By Updated 8 min read

Quick summary (TL;DR)

  • The TikTok Creator Rewards Program pays eligible creators for qualified views on original videos longer than 1 minute, based on an RPM that TikTok calculates.
  • To join you must be 18 or older, use a personal account, have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and live in one of 8 eligible countries, as of 2026.
  • Rewards combine a Standard Reward based on qualified views with an Additional Reward tied to watch time, retention, completion rate and search value.
  • Under the US terms, rewards are paid on the 15th of each month once you reach a $50 minimum, through a PayPal-linked payment account.
  • Creator Rewards is not a TikTok Shop feature: it pays for views, while Shop affiliate pays commission on sales, and many creators use both for different kinds of videos.

The TikTok Creator Rewards Program is TikTok's view-based payout program: eligible creators earn money from qualified views on original videos longer than 1 minute. To join the TikTok Creator Rewards Program you need to be 18 or older, have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and live in an eligible country, as of 2026.

It's also one of the most misunderstood ways to earn on TikTok. It isn't part of TikTok Shop, it doesn't pay a fixed rate per view, and the follower bar is ten times higher than the one for Shop affiliates. This guide explains the requirements, how payouts are calculated and paid, and how it fits alongside TikTok Shop.

What is the TikTok Creator Rewards Program?

Creator Rewards pays creators for the performance of their longer videos. TikTok counts qualified views on eligible videos over 1 minute and pays out based on a rate that varies by audience and video quality.

It replaced an older model. TikTok closed its original Creator Fund in the US, UK, France and Germany in December 2023 and moved creators to a newer program built around videos longer than 1 minute. Creator Rewards is the current version of that idea, and in 2025 TikTok added an "Additional Reward" layer for high-quality content.

Joining also unlocks a dashboard where you can see estimated rewards, RPM and which videos qualified.

What are the Creator Rewards Program requirements?

You need to be 18 or older, based in an eligible country, on a personal account in good standing, with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.

Here are the account requirements from TikTok's Creator Academy and the US program terms, as of 2026:

RequirementCreator Rewards Program
Age18 or older
FollowersAt least 10,000
Recent viewsAt least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
Account typePersonal account only; no Business, organization, government or political accounts
CountriesUnited States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico, Brazil
StandingFollows the Community Guidelines, Terms of Service and Creator Code of Conduct
PaymentA payment account in your own name, plus tax information

A few details catch people out:

  • Business accounts must switch. If you move from a Business account to a personal one, TikTok says you can apply after 30 days.
  • The account must be public. Private accounts aren't eligible.
  • Violations add up. Five video violations in 30 days make an account ineligible, and five total account violations make it permanently ineligible.
  • Profiles count too. Contact details in your bio, clickbait, and copied or low-effort content are listed as reasons for ineligibility.

How do you apply?

Go to your profile, tap the menu, open TikTok Studio, then Creator Rewards Program, and apply. TikTok says you'll hear back within three days. If you're rejected, the US terms say you can re-apply after 30 days.

Which videos earn rewards?

Only original, high-quality videos over 1 minute long that reach at least 1,000 For You feed views. Many common formats don't qualify.

TikTok's rules exclude:

  • Duets and Stitches.
  • Photo Mode posts.
  • Ads, paid promotions and sponsored content.
  • Unoriginal content: reposts, compilations, or clips with minimal original input or edits.
  • Low-quality formats: split screens, meaningless reactions, slideshows and low-quality images.

TikTok also asks for videos in 1080p or higher. If a video is ruled ineligible, you can appeal within 80 days; if your account is disqualified, the window is 30 days.

How are Creator Rewards payouts calculated?

Your total rewards are a Standard Reward plus an Additional Reward. Together they set your RPM, which TikTok defines as average gross revenue per 1,000 qualified views.

Standard Reward is the base, driven by qualified views. TikTok says it depends on audience metrics such as the regions your viewers come from and the language of your content.

Additional Reward is a quality bonus. It moves with how the video performs on four metrics:

  1. Average watch time: how long viewers stay.
  2. Retention rate: how many viewers are still watching at 30, 40, 50, 60 or 90 seconds.
  3. Completion rate: the share of viewers who finish.
  4. Search value: how often the video is found through TikTok search and leads to more viewing.

To qualify for it, TikTok looks for videos that are well-crafted, engaging and specialized in a niche.

What counts as a qualified view?

Not every view pays. TikTok counts a qualified view when someone watches for at least 5 seconds (30 seconds for views from search), doesn't tap "Not interested", and is in one of the eligible countries. Repeat views from the same account count once, and paid or fraudulent views are excluded.

Example (hypothetical): TikTok doesn't publish RPM rates, so these numbers are invented to show the math. A 3-minute video gets 400,000 views, of which 250,000 are qualified. If your RPM that month were $0.60, the video would earn 250 times $0.60, or $150. A video that loses viewers early would likely earn a lower RPM on the same view count.

How and when do you get paid?

Under the US terms, rewards are calculated in the month after you earn them and paid on the 15th of each month, once your payable balance reaches the $50 minimum. Payments run through PayPal's Hyperwallet service to a payment account in your name.

Things to know about the money side:

  • Estimates aren't final. The dashboard shows estimated rewards; final amounts come after TikTok's review of fees, tax and invalid views.
  • Small balances can expire. The US terms say unpaid amounts below the minimum may be deemed expired at TikTok's discretion, and TikTok reserves the right to change the threshold or cap rewards.
  • Withdrawals take time. Creator Academy says withdrawals are typically processed within 72 hours, but banks and payment providers can hold funds longer.
  • Taxes are yours. Rewards may be taxable, TikTok can withhold where the law requires, and it doesn't provide tax advice.
  • Bans forfeit rewards. If your account is permanently banned, outstanding rewards are forfeited; a successful appeal restores access.

Is Creator Rewards part of TikTok Shop?

No. Creator Rewards pays for views on long videos; TikTok Shop pays sellers for products sold and affiliates a commission on sales. They have separate rules, dashboards and payouts.

What paysQualified views on videos over 1 minuteCommission on delivered, non-refunded orders

How the two combine

Because ads, paid promotions and sponsored content don't earn Creator Rewards, don't expect a shoppable product video to pay twice. Check each video's status in your Creator Rewards dashboard rather than assuming. Many creators split the work:

  • Long, useful videos (tutorials, reviews, comparisons over 1 minute) build the audience and can earn Creator Rewards.
  • Short product demos with a product tag earn affiliate commission. Their structure is different; see how to make videos that sell on TikTok Shop.

The practical order for most beginners is the reverse of what people expect. Shop affiliate opens at 1,000 followers, so it's usually the first income on TikTok; Creator Rewards comes later, if the account reaches 10,000 followers. If you're starting there, read how to become a TikTok Shop affiliate, and when commissions arrive, how TikTok Shop pays you explains the timing.

Is the Creator Rewards Program worth it?

It can add income for creators who already make long, original videos in a niche. For a new account, the requirements are a real barrier, and the payout per view is unpredictable.

Be realistic about three things:

  • The bar is high. Reaching 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days usually means a long stretch of consistent posting, and many accounts never get there.
  • Longer videos are harder. Holding viewers past 1 minute takes scripting, editing and a clear topic.
  • Rates move. Your RPM depends on audience location, language and performance, so the same views can pay differently from month to month.

If you want income sooner, TikTok Shop affiliate or selling your own products are the more common starting points. Our step-by-step TikTok Shop guide covers that path.

Next steps

Check your eligibility in TikTok Studio, clean up your profile, and focus on longer videos in one niche that people search for. Keep your Shop content and your Creator Rewards content as separate formats.

Frequently asked questions

How many followers do you need for the TikTok Creator Rewards Program?

At least 10,000 followers, plus 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. You must also be 18 or older, use a personal account and be based in an eligible country.

How much does the TikTok Creator Rewards Program pay per 1,000 views?

TikTok doesn't publish a fixed rate. Your RPM depends on where viewers are, the language of your content and how well the video performs on watch time, retention, completion and search value.

Which countries have the Creator Rewards Program?

As of 2026, TikTok lists the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. You must be based in one of them with an account registered there.

Can you do Creator Rewards and TikTok Shop at the same time?

They are separate programs with separate eligibility, so one account can join both. Ads, paid promotions and sponsored content don't earn Creator Rewards, so plan which videos are for views and which are for sales.

Is the Creator Rewards Program the same as the Creator Fund?

No. TikTok closed the Creator Fund in the US, UK, France and Germany in December 2023 and moved creators to a newer program for videos over 1 minute. Creator Rewards is the current version of that model.
